I've recently started a new job working in a temporary hostel for homeless families. Its going well and i like the pace of things there.

I practice Zen at Black Mountain Zen Centre Belfast, www.blackmountainzencentre.org
and attend retreats 3 times per year here in Ireland, though I did travel to San Francisco Zen Center last October, and Plum Village, Thich Nhat Hanh's place in France, the year before.

I got started in practice with Panchen Otrull Rinpoche at Jampa Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Cavan in Ireland www.jampaling.org and I still visit there regularly to experience the tranquility and do some outdoor work or whatever needs doing!

I'm particularly interested in how to relate Zen practice to real life situations, and social problems, and don't think it can be seperated from politics - practice encompasses everything. This has led me to an interest in socialist and left ideas, but I'm not tied to any particular ideology or theory.
